See it Say it Censored, was a collective of visual artists, musicians, filmmakers, producers and activists together with Irish rap trio Kneecap, using their platforms in solidarity with the Palestinian people. Artist interpretations as well as interviews with doctors and activists centre the human cost of Israel’s military campaign and the international complicity that sustains it.
“Kneecap will not stay silent while Western governments are complicit in genocide. They have made us a target. But they cannot target us all.” – Kneecap
The film draws from internationally recognised sources including Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, The Lancet, and multiple UN agencies to build a clear case to meet the legal and moral definition of genocide. The project does not shy away from confronting the role of Western governments in enabling these crimes through arms sales, political protection, and media distortion. Beyond empathy they offer resources and actions that can help people contribute. More info can be found at https://stopthegenocide.info/
“This film was a way to cut through the noise. Artists like Kneecap face an uphill battle just to speak out, we have to act together to amplify the message.” – Will Child, Artist and Co-Director
I was invited to contribute to this important project, and submitted a number of computational artworks based on the brief. You can see them in the video below, with some explanation of how they were created.
