This is one of the first two large studies I created with this new process, and I liked them so much I framed them.
These are exploring the core thing that I find most interesting in creating physical art with code and machines – how the perfect repetition of the machine is then messed up by human ‘interference’. That interference is in how I create the masks, how I put the pigment/medium mix down, how that makes the fluid move, and much more besides. The perfect becomes imperfect, and all the more interesting for it.
