George Henry Rowe is an emerging contemporary artist and technologist. He explores the relationship between humans, machines and the environment through paintings, building auto-painting robots, and interactive installations. He is interested in the harmonies and the tensions created between digital and physical in our modern lives, creating compositions influenced by still life, memories and cultural artifacts.

As a painter, George’s work often features detailed repeating patterns built with custom tools, which then are realised through the thick layers of paint and printing pigments. He uses a pen plotter as a brush, combined with traditional painting techniques, focusing not on the technology but the human intention and the affordances of physical creation.

He is interested in how the perfection of code created computer work is then made imperfect and therefore more compelling when it becomes analogue, when physicalised through the creative process.
